Creating the initial release of the BlockFi iOS app
This project kicked off in September 2019 and launched in June 2020. The BlockFi Mobile App offered a modernized, sleek cryptoasset management interface for crypto users and the crypto curious. We introduced new UX, an improved account creation process and an updated style guide. The App reached 10k downloads in the App Store within a week — about half of BlockFi’s daily active user count at launch.

Our team started this project from scratch, with 3 developers, myself and the VP of product management. The web experience was built without design input, so one of our main goals with the mobile app was to release a more stylish vision that would speak to our audience. We also hoped to reflect this new style guide on web in a later iteration. I worked directly with our lean team to implement this work, which was on a tight schedule.

We utilized a wizard-like approach for the updated onboarding workflow to quickly get through many regulatory questions, rather than a long and overwhelming form.
